ASO ORZEŁ — Automatic Warning System
ASO ORZEŁ V is the latest generation of the Automatic Warning System developed by Sat-System — an ASO-class device whose task is to protect workers carrying out work within active railway lines against oncoming trains. The system protects in particular construction sites and locations of track works situated directly next to an active track on which regular train traffic takes place. The solution was designed in accordance with the guidelines of the Id-18 PKP PLK S.A. instruction, which regulates the principles of securing sites of works on railway lines on which trains travel at a speed of 100 km/h or more — that is, in conditions in which the human reaction time to visual observation of the track is insufficient, and the only effective safeguard becomes the automatic, electronic detection of an approaching train and the early warning of workers. The operating principle of systems of this class consists in detecting an oncoming train at a safe distance from the work site (corresponding to the braking distance and the time needed for the workers to safely leave the track), and then automatically generating a warning signal — audible and/or visual — informing the work team of the need to immediately halt work and leave the danger area. Sat-System emphasises the innovative nature of the ASO ORZEŁ system, pointing out that it is the only company in Poland offering this type of solution for monitoring and protecting designated danger zones in this area. The product is a natural development of the earlier version of the system (ASO ORZEŁ II), which the company presented as a response to the growing demand of the railway market for effective, automated protection of track crews — with successive generations (up to the current version V), the system was developed for operational reliability, resistance to weather conditions and ease of setup and configuration on temporary construction sites. In practice, ASO ORZEŁ V fits into the broader philosophy of Sat-System — the company designs and manufactures the device itself, like the other systems of the HUSAR family, which allows it to combine many years of experience in railway automation with the ability to integrate ASO ORZEŁ with the company's other solutions, e.g. the FALCON PSIM security management platform, as part of a comprehensive offer for track-works contractors and railway infrastructure managers.
